Rock Dumper
A high-operational solution for underground mining. Our rock dumpers are designed to provide maximum operation and unloading capacity due to their considerable light weight.
OVERVIEW
Rock dumpers are widely used to transport ore materials from underground mining. ADOR’s rock dumpers are designed with substantially thinner plates of 10 mm rather than the regular ones of 25 to 30 mm, offering a lower tare weight. However, the steel used in our rock dumpers is ultra-high-strength with a high-performance wear plate system.
They are provided in two different gauges, 1,435 mm (standard) and 1,000 mm, with automatic couplers, optional brakes, two axles, and a speed of 25 kilometers per hour. We offer four standard sizes for our rock dumpers, even dimensioned for the small drifts of underground mines.
They are efficiently capable of handling drop-loaded boulders in sizes up to 1500 mm and are designed for rolling bottom discharge up to 17,000 tons capacity per hour. ADOR offers low-cost maintenance and easy change-outs for its rock dumpers. Our rock dumpers also have optimizable and customizable designs to meet your requirements.

What Is a Rock Dumper Freight Wagon?
A rock dumper freight wagon is an efficient and operational railcar in the railway industry, specifically designed to transport ore materials from underground mining, such as boulders. Due to their operations, rock dumpers are typically manufactured in large sizes, and the materials used in these freight wagons are high strength to be capable of transporting heavy ore materials derived from mining.
Key Features of Rock Dump Railcars
- High-Capacity Continuous Discharge: it can discharge up to 17,000 tonnes per hour, ensuring quick and efficient unloading of large boulders and rocks.
- Robust Construction: Made from ultra-high-strength steel, these wagons are designed to withstand harsh conditions and heavy loads.
- Compact Design: Dimensioned for the small drifts of underground mines, they are a compact solution that can operate in narrow spaces.
- Modular Design: The modular construction allows for easy maintenance and replacement of parts, reducing downtime and maintenance costs.
Benefits of Using Rock Dumper Freight Wagons
- Efficiency: The high-capacity discharge system ensures quick unloading, reducing turnaround times.
- Durability: The robust construction and high-strength materials ensure the wagon can handle heavy loads and harsh conditions.
- Cost-Effective: The modular design reduces maintenance costs and downtime, providing a cost-effective solution for bulk material transport.
What Challenges Can Be Faced During Using Rock Dumpers?
The primary challenge most miners and this industry face is their super-high weight. They are typically designed with materials in their constructions that increase their tare weight and, consequently, limit their unloaded capacity. However, there are innovative rock dumpers designed with lightweight materials to address this issue significantly.
In addition, rock dumpers are often manufactured in large sizes to transport large mining and ore materials. However, these large rock dumpers are not always efficient and lose their operationality in small drifts. Therefore, they should be designed in various sizes to operate in both small and large drifts.
What materials can be transported using a rock dumper freight wagon?
Rock dumper freight wagons are suitable for transporting large boulders and rocks, typically used in underground mining operations.
How is a rock dumper maintained?
The modular design of rock dumpers allows for easy maintenance. Most components can be replaced within two hours by a team of two people, minimizing downtime.
What are the specifications of a rock dumper freight wagon?
- Max payload: 21 to 50 tonnes
- Tare weight: 9 to 15 tonnes
- Max axle load: 15 to 32.5 tonnes
- Distance between axles: 2500 to 3500 mm
- Unloading capacity: 10,000 to 17,000 tonnes/h
What industries benefit most from using rock dumper freight wagons?
Industries such as mining greatly benefit from them in transporting and unloading large boulders and rocks.
