/ Case studies
Location: UAE
This is a project for the protection of the existing Hatta Dam lake during the construction of a hydro power plant, the purpose was to store water from Hatta Dam for generating electricity during peak demand periods. The fully customized barriers were successfully installed to ensure the water quality of the lake will not be affected during the construction works.

Location: UAE
Ecocoast was approached as a precautionary measure to contain sediment in the event a newly-flooded area required emergency dewatering at the Louvre Abu Dhabi project site. Upon completion of the construction works, the reclaimed area was to be excavated and then flooded. Ecobarrier Silt Curtains were installed prior to flooding to contain any sediment from the dewatering process.

/ FAQS
What is the difference between a silt curtain and a turbidity curtain?
They are the same. The terms are used interchangeably across industries and regions.
Are silt curtains reusable?
Yes. Premium and Green models are designed for multiple uses. The Standard model is best for short- to mid-term use.
How can I get more information?
Contact us for detailed technical documentation or tailored solutions to suit your project needs.
What is the scope of your work?
Our scope of work encompasses Canada and extends globally, offering tailored solutions for infrastructural and industrial needs.
Are these curtains recyclable?
Yes. All models are made with recyclable components. Premium and Green models are also reusable.
Is installation complicated?
Not with ADOR’s Quick Connect ‘No-Gap’ system. We also offer supervision and training if needed.
What floatation types are used?
Standard and Premium models use EPS foam. Green models use EPS-free, air-filled floats.
Ultimate Guide to Silt Curtains: Marine Sediment Control for Construction, Dredging, and Environmental Protection
Controlling sediment in marine and freshwater environments is a critical concern in construction, dredging, and shoreline stabilization. Whether you’re working near sensitive habitats or infrastructure, a reliable silt curtain—also known as a turbidity curtain, floating silt barrier, or sediment control curtain—is essential to protect water quality and comply with environmental regulations.
At ADOR, we offer three expertly engineered silt curtain models—Standard, Premium, and Green—tailored for diverse marine conditions and regulatory requirements. In this blog, you’ll discover what silt curtains are, why they matter, how they work, and which type best suits your project needs.
What Is a Silt Curtain?
A silt curtain is a vertically suspended barrier made of geotextile fabric and buoyant floats, deployed in water to contain suspended sediment during marine activities like dredging, shoreline works, or construction near water bodies.
By intercepting and settling out particles in the water column, silt curtains help maintain water clarity, reduce turbidity, and prevent contamination of ecosystems downstream.
These systems are also known as:
- Turbidity curtains
- Floating silt barriers
- Sediment control curtains
- Marine silt curtains
Why Silt Curtains Are Essential in Marine Projects
Regulatory Compliance
Most coastal and freshwater construction projects must comply with environmental standards like the RPSC-23 guideline for silt curtain design and use. Non-compliance can lead to fines, delays, or even legal action.
Environmental Protection
Suspended sediments can smother aquatic habitats, damage coral reefs, and block sunlight from aquatic vegetation. A properly installed marine silt curtain reduces this risk.
Operational Safety
High turbidity can reduce underwater visibility for divers or marine equipment operators. Clearer water allows for safer and more precise operations.
Stakeholder Assurance
Public and government scrutiny around environmental performance is growing. Silt curtains demonstrate responsible project management and environmental care.
Common Applications of Turbidity Curtains
- Dredging operations in ports, rivers, or canals
- Bridge and dock construction
- Shoreline reinforcement and erosion control
- Pipeline and cable laying
- Environmental remediation projects
- Wetland restoration
