locomotive shunter-multi purpose vehicle from ADOR Tech

Shunter

Keep your transportation responsive with our extremely versatile shunters and track vehicles. They are designed to be efficient even though complex logistics and changing requirements across the railway.

OVERVIEW

Shunters are types of locomotive machines that are mostly efficient in railway maintenance. They are engineered to shunt, transport, crew speeders, and reconfigure wagons to meet their maintenance needs most efficiently. We are the exclusive representative of extremely versatile shunters and track vehicles, allowing you to enhance and speed up your railroad maintenance process.

ADOR provides multipurpose locomotive shunters with last-generation components, leveraging cutting-edge technology to make them perform smoother and more straightforward. They are equipped with hydrostatic transmission on a closed circuit with Dynamic Torque Control (DTC) and interconnection with remote diagnostics. Therefore, they always would be the best solution for railway needs.

Our locomotive shunters and switcher locomotives are manufactured to comply with UNI EN 14033 standards, and they are represented in two efficient models: OM181 and OM191. Both models include master-slave mode, which makes them capable of controlling multiple machines as locomotives from a single machine. ADOR’s locomotive shunters and track vehicles are additionally designed with large cabins, front terraces, and independent double drives.

FAQS

What Are the Shunters?

When it comes to railway maintenance requirements and their importance in this industry, locomotive shunters and switcher locomotives play a crucial role. These versatile railcars are also known as switcher locomotives, designed to tackle challenging operational tasks and proceed with the maintenance workflow.

Locomtive Shunters are super-efficient railway locomotive machines primarily used to transport out-of-service trains, wagons, and maintenance equipment smoothly and straightforwardly. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, most of them operate sophisticated and innovative workflows, including more flexibility, automation, and other efficient capabilities.

Where Are These Vehicles Used?

Railway maneuvering units are used in a variety of applications, such as:

  • Moving inactive railcars and freight wagons

  • Isolating rolling stock for inspection

  • Adjusting train configurations for efficient load distribution

  • Supporting cleaning, repair, or track inspection operations

  • Serving as rescue units for breakdown scenarios

  • Functioning as multi-purpose utility platforms on rails

Their adaptability makes them essential for rail operators, maintenance contractors, and infrastructure projects.

Built for Modern Demands

Today’s rail yard engines feature smart technology that boosts performance:

  • Remote diagnostics and real-time monitoring

  • Independent axle drive systems for increased traction control

  • Cabin designs with wide visibility and ergonomic layouts

  • Compatibility with diesel, electric, hybrid, or LPG drive systems

These features allow smooth operation, lower emissions, and efficient fleet integration.

Custom-Built for Specific Missions

No two projects are the same — that’s why we provide tailor-made railway solutions. From compact movers for urban rail networks to high-power models for industrial sidings, our vehicles are adapted to your technical and operational needs.

Optional configurations include:

  • Cabin size and layout

  • Emission level compliance (Tier 4, EU standards)

  • Track gauge and wheel spacing

  • Specialized tools for weed control, inspection, or track repair

Smart Operation with Scalable Power

Depending on the model, our rail movers offer power outputs ranging from 470 to 800 hp, top speeds up to 90 km/h, and advanced automation features for coordinated movement of multiple vehicles. This ensures both flexibility and reliability, even under demanding conditions.
