Norwich Dam Project

Description:

The Long Point Region Conservation Authority (LPRCA) is one of the vital Conservation Authorities in Ontario, Canada. Looking for a high-level cost estimate for the design, supply, and installation of a public safety boom, they contact ADOR. Norwich Dam, where the required safety boom should be installed, features a concrete weir structure and a low flow value for reservoir augmentation.

Moreover, the safety boom they required should have included onshore and in-water anchors, permanent in various environmental conditions, in all four seasons. Regarding the project’s specifications, we offered our Canoe Boom (CAB-400) to address the LPRCA’s problem. Designed and manufactured by our partner, Ecocoast, these public safety booms not only prevent watercraft from passing through and provide a safer area at Norwich Dam but also meet the LPRCA’s requirements and expectations.

We offer them a V-shaped installation, including two Canoe Booms on the sides linked together via a mooring buoy. Our CAB-400 safety booms are designed with a suitable anchoring system (both in-water and onshore anchors) and significant break load, preventing floating ice and woody debris (from small sticks to large logs).

Installed successfully at Norwich Dam, ADOR had the honor of working on this project and taking a step toward providing a safer marine environment.
